1937 - March: Detective Comics #1 is Published. 1939 - May: Bat-Man makes his debut in "Detective Comics #27" in a story called"The Case of the Chemical Syndicate", written by Bill Finger and drawn by BOB Kane. Its also the first appearance of Commissioner James Gordon. Kane was inspired by: Superman, a drawing by Leonardo da Vinci, a Zorro Movie, the Shadow, and the Movie "The Bat Whispers". Kane First thought of creating Bird- Man and giving him a red dress, but Happily he didn't. 1939 - September: The Prototype of The BATARANG and the Batcopter appear in "Detective #39". 1940 - February: Debut of Professor Hugo Strange. He will die in "Batman #1", but will reappear in the sixties. 1940 - April: Robin the Boy Wonder has his first appearance in Detective #38 as Batman adopts the Circus acrobat Dick Grayson. Early 1940: "Batman #1" is published. It's including the first appearance of the Joker and Selina Kyle alias Catwoman. 1940 - June: In Detective #40 Clayface appears the first time. 1941 - February: The Prototype of the Batmobile is introduced (Detective #48). 1941 - Autumn: Scarecrow alias Professor Jonathan Crane has his first appearance. 1941 - December: First Appearance of Oswald Chesterfield Cobblepot - the Penguin (Detective #58). Bob Kane once told the story that he took a look at a pack of "Kool" Cigarettes with a penguin on it. For him the animal seemed to look like a small, fat man. 1942 - February: The Bat Signal appears the first time (Detective # 60). 1942 - August: First Appearance of Two- Face/Harvey Dent (actually, in that time he was named "Kent") in Detective #66. Kane says he was inspired by "Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde". |

| 1943 - April/May: First appearance of Alfred Beagle (later Pennyworth) in Batman #16. 1943 - Juli 16: Beginning of "Batman, a 15 episode-long series by Columbia. Batman: Lewis Wilson; Robin: Douglas Croft. Bob Kane was pretty unhappy about that show as he said the actor of Batman was too fat and "Robin" over twenty. 1943 - October 25: "Batman and Robin" starts as a cartoon in different newspapers. 1943 - October 29: First appearance of the Bat-Cave in the newspaper cartoon. 1945 - September 15: Batman and Robin appear in the radio show "SUPERMAN" wit Stacy Harris as Batman (later it's Matt Crowley, the voice of Dick Tracy) and Ronald Liss as Robin. 1947 - February: Robin gets his own comic in "Star- Spangled Comics #65" until #129. 1948 - June-July: Batman finds the murderer of his parents: Joe Chill (Batman # 47). In the Movie "Batman" from 1989 the Joker is the Killer of Batman's mom and dad. 1948 - October: First appearance of the Riddler in Detective #140. 1948 - October-November: First appearance of Vicky Vale. |

1949 - May 26: Second TV series by Columbia. Batman: Robert lowery; Robin: John Duncan; VIcky Vale: Jane Adams. 1950 - February: A new Batmobile appears. 1950 - October-November: Batman designs a new Batplane which has its first appearance in Batman #61. 1952 - May-June: First time Superman meets Batman in a comic. (Superman #52) They also find out each others secret identity. 1955 - June: First appearance of the Bat-Hound Ace. 1956 - July: First appearance of "Batwoman" Kathy Kane. Batwoman is nowadays pretty unknown as Batgirl in the sixties series got popular. Kathy is a circus acrobat a Robin is. 1959 - February: First appearance of "Mr. Zero" - nowadays known as Mr. Freeze. (Batman #121) 1961 - April: Batman #139: Kathy Kane's niece Betty gets the first Batgirl. 1964 - May: Exactly 25 years after his creation Batman is presented in his "new look". In Detective #327 the new round emblem is to see for the first time. And: an new BATMOBILE. |

The famous sixties TV show starts a Batman hype. 1966 - Summer: As the TV show is so very popular, our hero tries his first jump into a movie. 1966 -June: First appearance of Dr. Pamela Isley alias Poison Ivy. 1967 - January: "The Million Dollar Debut of Batgirl!" Detective #359: Bibleothecarian Barbara Gordon gets the Batgirl, also appearin in the 3rd season of the famous TV show. 1968 - September 12: First Batman animated series: "The Superman Batman hour". 1969 - December: Robin leaves Batman to go to college. 1970 - June: During an experiment to use Radar like a real Bat Carl Langstrom is turned into Man- Bat. (Detective #400). 1971 - May: The mysterious Taila gets into Batmans life.8Detective #411) 1971 - June: Batman #232: Ras Al-Ghul, Talias father and head of a 600- years old criminal society. (His name means "Demons head"). 1977 - February 12: Reunion of Burt Ward and Adam West - as the voices of Batman and Robin at a CBS animated Series called "New adventures of Batman". 1979 - January: West, Ward, and Frank Gorshin (the Riddler) in two one-hour TV specials as their characters. |

1989 June 23: BATMANIA II ! As the Movie BATMAN (Batman: Michael Keaton; Joker: Jack Nicholson) gets into the cinemas, the second Bat fanatism starts. 1989 - November "Legends of the Dark Knight" gets published. 1990 - December: Tim Drake gets Robin #3 (Batman #487). 1992 - June: "Batman Returns" - Batman is back on the big screen! Again Michael Keaton is Batman, this time his enemies are the feline Catwoman and the deadly Penguin. 1992 - September 5: "Batman: The Animated Series" airs the first time. 1992 - September 11: Harleen Quinzel/Harley Quinn, a new enemy, is introduced by the animated series. 1993: Batman:Mask of the Phantasm (Animated Series) Movies comes to the big srceen. This was the only animated Batman series on the big Screen. Kevin Conroy (Batman) Mark Hamill (The Joker) Dana Delany (Mask of the Phantasm). 1995 - June: BATMAN FOREVER! In the third movie adventure Michael Keaton is replaced by Val Kilmer, Robin (Chris O'Donnell) is introduced. Villains: The Riddler (Jim Carrey) and Two- Face (Tommy Lee Jones). 1997 - June: Batman & Robin : George Clooney is the new movie Batman, he is also joined by Batgirl (Alicia Silverstone). Batman (Kevin Conroy)The Joker (Mark Hamill). 1999: Batman Beyond (Animated Series) airs first time. Batman Beyond takes 40 years in the future from The New Batman Adventures. Bruce Wayne is now in his late 70s early 80s and a new Batman (Terry McGinnis) comes along. 2000-October Batman Beyond: Return of The Joker (Animated Series)Batman (Will Friedle) Bruce Wayne (Kevin Conroy) The Joker (Mark Hamill). 2001-Nov 17: Batman is apart of the new Super Friends called "Justice League" air on Cartoon Network. 2002-January 26: Batman & Robin along with the Joker guest stars in the cartoon Static Shock. |
